Country Couples

This club has introduced a different dancing style to SCCL. Our dancing is best described as partner pattern dancing, where couples follow the same steps. Dancers follow each other around the floor, starting and stopping together. Although our dances follow specific steps, we encourage some freestyle moves, too!

At each session, we teach several dances (sometimes new dances, sometimes a review of previously-taught dances). After teaching or reviewing a dance, couples then perform the dance to different songs.  During these songs, a teacher will often call out the steps, for the convenience of beginners. Rhythms include waltz, cha-cha, swing, or other styles (even "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson). Dances are taught or reviewed each session; no prior experience is needed, but a general knowledge of the rhythms is helpful.

We have been assigned the Studio downstairs in the Lakehouse on Sunday afternoons from 2 to 4 pm.  Check the calendar below for the dates of the dances.
