The Sun City Model Yacht Club (SCMYC) is a recreational-sports club which provides an opportunity for comaraderie and fun in a competitive setting. Club activities primarily consist of twice-weekly sailing (weather and winds permitting) of radio-controlled model boats, plus monthly meetings and occasional special events. We sail and race on Mondays from 10:30am to about 12:00 (or winter hours 1:30 to 3:00pm) for practice and fun on the main lake between Grandparent's Park and the tennis courts. Anyone is free to join us then. On Wednesdays at the same times we compete against each other in a series of races to accumulate points towards monthly regattas and season awards. Anyone is welcome to observe our races then, but we will not be able to give you the attention you can receive on a Monday. Our boats are the 32" Nirvana, which is a one-design class that offers a low cost (approx $300 new) and is ready to sail out of the box.
