Railroad Club

The Railroad Club of Carolina Lakes (RCCL) was founded in 2008 as The Sun City Model Railroad Club.  The 2013 name change was prompted by the members' desire to better reflect the broad range of interests encompassed in the Club.  From model railroading, working on the Club's Holiday Display Layout, building a home railroad, planning a future empire, railfanning, or just "armchair" railroading ... everyone with an interest in railroading, prototype or model...any size, any scale is welcome.

Club meetings are usually held on the third Thursday of each month at 7pm in the Lake House, Ivy Room.  Meetings are supplemented by breakfasts on the first Wednesday of the month, and dinners held in the Spring and Winter. Note that the meeting schedule may change because of meeting room availability. Field trips to train shows, museums, and occasional steam and diesel excursions are scheduled from time to time. Club outreach may include visits to area schools, children's homes, etc. to discuss the magic of railroading.

Spouses are especially welcome not only at regular meetings but also at all social events. From time-to-time the club organizes excursions or trips to interesting rail locations. The Club policy is that anyone traveling on an "away" trip must be a resident of SCCL and a paid-up member of the RCCL
