Falls are common among Americans over the age of 65. Probably everyone listening to me tonight has fallen or knows someone who has. They are frightening events and can have a dramatic if not detrimental impact on those who have fallen. We must remember that falls are not inevitable, but there are things that we can do. Tonight, I would like to briefly discuss 3 topics that you can do to reduce your fall risk.
1) Things you can do in in your home to make it safer.
2) Balance and how to maintain it
3) How exercise/physical activity can help reduce fall risk.
In addition, I will call your attention to web-based information that you can make use of to reduce your risk of experiencing a fall.
