Membership and Play

Membership

     Membership in SCMGA is open to all male residents of Sun City Carolina Lakes. Membership requires the resident to pay annual dues which shall be annually determined by SCMGA Board of Directors, and to maintain a World Handicap System (WHS) handicap as determined by the Carolina Golf Association as administered by the Carolina Lakes Golf Club professional staff.

Tournaments and Wednesday Play

     The SCMGA hosts a series of tournaments throughout the year and a weekly "Wednesday" game. Formats vary and WHS GHIN handicaps are used to ensure fair play.

Wednesday Play

     Members sign up to play on the Golf Genius (www.2023scmgawednesdayleague.golfgenius.com) or through the email sent out by the Pro Shop.  All players MUST be signed up prior to 5:00pm on the Monday prior to the Wednesday game. No exceptions. All players that have to withdraw will do so using Golf Genius (www.2023scmgawednesdayleague.golfgenius.com). Last minute withdraws need to call the Pro Shop prior to the Wednesday tee time.

 All members must have a WHS handicap to play in events.

Late cancellations (after Tuesday noon) and "no shows" on Wednesday mornings cause serious problems for the Pro Shop and the SCMGA as we try to provide a variety of games throughout the season. Preparation for Wednesday play includes making up foursomes, developing equitable teams for games like ABCD play or two-man teams and entering the rosters into the GHIN system. A late cancel or no show will require much of this work be done over.

Late cancellation because the course is "Cart Path Only" is not acceptable. Check the weather and make your decision before Tuesday noon!

Those who cancel late or are a "no show" on Wednesday morning may receive a written warning; the second offense in a six-month period will result in no Wednesday play for the offender for the following three weeks, the third offense will result in no play for three months. The SCMGA will enforce this (not the Pro Shop).

Weekly prizes will be awarded and paid out monthly to the whole dollar based on format and flights. All payouts will be in cash and paid the first Wednesday of the month.
